Environmental Sustainability at Zendesk
Creating a sustainable future together
At Zendesk, we recognise that the environment is the key stakeholder and feel the urgency to take climate action. That’s why we’re committed to decarbonising our value chain and helping the world progress toward a net zero future.
Our approach
Reduce
We reduce our value chain emissions by optimising our own operations and engaging our suppliers.
Mitigate
We mitigate our residual emissions by purchasing an increasing amount of high-quality carbon offsets.
Accelerate
We use our financial resources to accelerate carbon removal technologies and progress towards a net zero economy.
Aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
Our progress
At Zendesk, we tap into the unique power of our company to tackle climate change — our offices, our data hosting, our employee travel and our supply chain. We have made great progress over the past few years.

Global offices
Since 2019, we’ve reduced our office electricity consumption by 44%. And we’ve achieved our 100% renewable energy goal by purchasing utility-provided clean energy and high-quality Energy Attributes Certificates (EAC) equivalent to the amount of electricity consumption in our global offices.
Data hosting
We work with our cloud service providers to add cloud capacity to the regions operating on the cleanest electricity grids, and have mitigated an increasing amount of data hosting emissions over the past few years.
Business travel
Our digital-first policy continues to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with our employees’ business travel. Since 2019, we’ve reduced our business travel emissions by 97%.
Supply chain
In our Supplier Code of Conduct, we encourage our suppliers to set their own climate targets, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and disclose their environmental data publicly.
